Canyon Narrows Series
For Jan’s first one woman exhibit of her watercolors, “Watercolors of the Southwest” at her children’s school in Salt Lake City, Utah in April of ’88, one of her most sought after paintings was a large Zion Canyon Narrows. Though she continued periodically painting the deep canyon cliffs with hundreds of stones and reflections in the streambeds, it was not until she moved to northern New Mexico that she devoted an entire exhibit to them. The Abiquiu Inn Cafe exhibited over twenty “Canyon Narrows” watercolors in May of 2003.
Presently, many spirit animal images emerge subtly from the textures, shadows, and reflections of Jan’s Canyon Narrows series.
