Jan’s purpose in expressing the beauty of Mother Earth through the creative expression of Father Sky ~ Spirit ~ God ~ Creator lends itself easily to other media and products. Her ‘Hands of the Ancients’ Medicine Cards bring the ancient energy from those who have gone before into our daily lives. Her shields, medicine bags, ceremonial bags and fans also exhibit Spirit moving through her to envision and then create these medicine pieces. Though she is not Native American, these ancient healing traditions touch a deep cord within her, and she follows what she is drawn to by Spirit to create.

Shaman, becoming a Pipe Carrier, learning and then teaching
Tai Chi, studying Reiki, being close to a traditional Navajo
family and many of their ceremonies, and being involved with
a Healing Circle based on ancient Native traditions have influenced
her love of manifesting these creations.

 Like a tarot or divination deck, Jan’s exquisitely painted cards of petroglyphs and pictographs as well as objects in physical form suggest an energetic message of healing and blessings. She brings ancient energy into the present to help guide our thoughts. Paintings and text flowed as if channeled while they were being created. People using them daily or in response to a question have found answers within from a synchronistically selected card.
Sets come with twenty-two cards, a booklet helping to define each card
selected, and a hand-painted bag in which to put the ‘Hands of the Ancients’
Medicine Cards.

 Shields, Medicine Bags and Beadwork
Jan incorporates her watercolor into shields of woven willow. Often feathers and other objects make this mixed media expression very unique. Beaded peyote stitch, beadwork, and painting of animals decorate many fans and medicine bags. Also, animal images have been painted to enhance pillows.
Jan welcomes commissions for creating pieces with special animal or spirit guide energies. Designs for personal shields and medicine bags are often determined by doing pipe ceremony and moving into the energy of the person's request.
